A lifelong dream of impactful medicine...

Dr. Sabine Witte brings 19 years of experience as a vet to this venture. Her interest has always been in helping animals live the best life possible and especially in making a difference for those whose guardians may have financial constraints. She recognizes that offering lower cost Spay/Neuter and basic vet care is vital in keeping pets (and their potential offspring) out of rescues and in their homes. The surgeries also prevent a multitude of life-threatening medical conditions that often lead to euthanasia for financial reasons.
Dr. Witte moved to Vancouver Island 3 years ago after spending 10 years at a very busy mixed practice in the BC Interior. She has worked at different vet clinics in the Comox Valley and Campbell River and will continue to provide locum services in addition to running her own clinic.
In their free time Dr. Witte and her sidekick May love being outside exploring and enjoying nature and dabbling in dog sports. Dr Witte also volunteers with MARS Wildlife Rescue and CATS.

FAQ

Is this a low income clinic or a lower cost clinic?This is a lower cost clinic. This means that we are trying to keep costs as low as possible and the service is available to anyone who wishes to book. There is no requirement to provide proof of income. Anyone can book for our services at the prices listed.Age and weight requirements
In order to have your cat or dog spayed or neutered at our clinic they must be:
Over 1.2 kilograms and over 8 weeks old.
Generally healthy (we will conduct a free wellness exam the morning of their appointment to ensure that they are fit for surgery).
Animals over 6 years old will need to come in for an exam prior to surgery and we can run pre-operative bloodwork.
Female dogs MUST be under 10 months old and weigh less than 20 kg. We do not offer mature spays in large breed animals.
What is included in the surgery cost
All surgeries include:
* Pre-operative examination and assessment
* Premedication and sedation
* Anesthetic induction and maintenance
* Anesthetic monitoring
* Multimodal pain control in hospital
* Post-operative pain control to give at home
* complementary tattoo and nail trim if requested
* Post-operative snack
We have a few issues that arise during a routine spay or neuter.Some boy cats/dogs retain their testicles inside their abdomen. This is called Cryptorchidism. There is an additional charge to complete these types of surgeries. We will contact you prior to proceeding in these situations.Can my animal still get spayed if they are pregnant?Absolutely. Spay aborts are routine and can be performed up to labour. Cats and dogs are not aware of being pregnant and will not "miss" their fetuses. If your pet has an unplanned pregnancy or you are not willing or able to raise and rehome an entire litter it is the kinder choice to have your pet spayed. Are you able to afford medical care if anything goes wrong with the pregnancy, such as birthing issues requiring a C-Section, mastitis, hypocalcemia and other issues.Is there an extra charge if my animal is pregnant?
There is NO extra charge for pregnant cats. Pregnant dogs will incur a surcharge of $100.
Payment/deposit
To book an appointment we require a deposit equal to the price for each surgery booked and $ 85 for each wellness exam booked. Your deposit is applied to your final bill, you will need to pay the balance of any extra services on the day of your surgery or appointment.
The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. Please ensure that you are able to attend your scheduled appointment. If you call us with 48 hours notice we will move your appointment to another date at no charge.If you request additional services (flea treatment/vaccines/microchip, etc.) you can pay for those services on your appointment day. We accept cash, e-transfers, debit or credit cards or online payments.Is this a mobile service?
Yes. The clinic is fully mobile and will be available at different community locations on specific dates.
